Costa Rica Tourism Tramples Eco-Assets

Costa Rica is an awesome place to surf. Known around the globe for its great surfing and waves, I personally have seen the landscape change dramatically. It’s really no different than any other place in terms of building and construction. You can expect that someone will come in and develop this area, and though it is sad, those who buy homes and stay on vacations will enjoy the lifestyle of this once pristine locale.

With two sides of the country to surf–the Pacific Coast or Caribbean Coast–and both accessible within a day’s journey, surfing opportunities are out of this world. I live in Australia, and like Costa Rica so much, I wouldn’t mind living there.

Surfers like Costa Rica because it is still affordable. Compare it to another popular surfing spot, Jaws (or Peahi) on Maui, a premier surfers paradise with big waves for either the insane or best of the best world-class surfer daredevils who risk their lives on the biggest waves in the world (up to 70 feet), and you’ll soon see why locals are fighting to keep Osa Peninsula the way it is. Check out hotel prices on Maui to see what it costs to live in paradise. http://reservations.vacationtravelchannel.com/1286_hotel-list.html?locationID=g6708
