If you
guessed that West Hollywood is the relative of
Hollywood, and west of it, ding ding ding! You are
correct. Some say West Hollywood is the twisted
sister. Others call it the little brother of
Hollywood. The references refer to "WeHo" or West
Hollywood, home to a large gay and alternative
lifestyle, known for its gay billboards, gay pride
parade and events, and wild parties such as the
largest Halloween block party in the United States!
West
Hollywood isn't just gay & straight. It's home to
comedy, rock and blues, as well. The concert venues
where many comedians and musicians have gotten a
launch is perhaps the most happening nightlife spot
in all of L.A.
Try staying
in West Hollywood for a vacation or overnighter, and
you'll get to loving it. Everyone's a producer, a
writer, an actor, or something distinguished, and if
they aren't, they certainly are on the verge.
Restaurants
and nightlife are some of the highlights of WeHo.
Special events also shine. And the Design Center is
located in town, which means there are some quality
home treatments and home experts to decorate your
mansion into something really special.
Not everyone
is rich and famous in West Hollywood, however. Many
are just hard working people trying to make a
living. Tourists love staying in the city because
you can walk to many of the restaurants and
nightlife. Shopping is out there with stores such as
Hustler offering adult oriented entertaining gifts,
cards and other items. Window displays at Hustler
are often cutting edge...cutting on the edge of
offending conservative people. Like Las Vegas, don't
take your little kids if you don't want them to see
bondage style mannequins in the window display case.
If you're
staying in Los Angeles and doing the studio tours,
theme parks and Hollywood lore, consider booking a
room at West Hollywood's unique hotels and you'll
have plenty to see and do at night. |
